FREE ROSE PRUNING LESSONS
January through February

Free rose pruning lessons are offered in the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden during pruning season. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (408) 298-7657 about when to come, or just show up on a Saturday morning. On pruning days, come to the garden at 8:30 AM and be prepared to stay until 11:30. Park free on Taylor Street or in the parking lot on Seymour Street.

Have you ever taken rose pruning lessons where the instructor only demonstrated how to prune?  You then went home and found your roses didn't look at all like the ones the instructor demonstrated with!  Our expert rosarians will demonstrate, then you will, with supervision, prune several roses.  This hands-on experience will build your confidence in caring for your own roses.  If you get home and still don't feel confident with some of your roses, come back for another lesson.

The lessons can also cover other aspects of rose care in the Santa Clara Valley and the San Francisco Peninsula.  We will answer your questions.

We will loan you bypass shears and leather gloves if you need them.

What's in it for us?  Your training sessions help us get the garden pruned for a gorgeous spring bloom!
